The capital city of the state of Georgia in the United States, Georgia is home to over 540,000 residents, with its metropolitan area accounting for 5 million people. The city’s population features a diverse fusion of backgrounds and cultures, with significant international influence.  With a humid subtropical climate, Atlanta has hot, humid summers and mild, but occasionally cold winters.

 

Atlanta features one of the United States’ largest city economies, with a number of the World’s largest corporations headquartered in the city. The city is home to several of Fortune 500’s top companies, including the Coca Cola Company, UPS, Home Depot, AT&T mobility, Newell Rubbermaid, Georgia-Pacific and Waffle House. The city is home to large Biotechnology, Medical Devices, Auto assembly, and Media industries also. Delta Air Lines is the city’s largest employer, operating out of the world’s largest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The airport is the largest hub airport in the world, with just under 90 million passengers passing through the airport annually.

 

The City’s Education sector features a number of world leading third-level institutions, and is one of the United States’ leading research and development centres.  Georgia Institute of Technology is one of the country’s top ten public Universities, while Georgia State University and Emory University are two of the larger third level institutions located within the city’s boundaries.

 

The city features a thriving Arts and Cultural scene also, with a diverse and rich collection of orchestras. Choirs, entertainment venues, museums and galleries.

Atlanta is ranked within the top fifteen cities in the United States. The city’s long and diverse history and heritage ensures the visitor is exposed to some of the country’s top Museums and Galleries, while one of the World’s largest Aquariums, as well as the excellent ‘World of Coco-Cola’, also ensure tourists are kept entertained throughout their stay. Travel Information

 

With the World’s largest airport serving as the city’s principal gateway, visitors can easily access Georgia by air. Amtrak’s Crescent Train links a number of cities to Georgia, including New York, New Orleans and Birmingham. Greyhound Bus Lines provide scheduled bus links to a variety of locations nationwide, while a number of Interstate Highway Systems run through the city.
