Getting to Atlanta

 

Overview

 

Wherever you're travelling from, Atlanta is easily accessible by air, rail,  and road. Atlanta is home to the World's largest airport, meaning air access is by far the easiest way for visitors to reach the city. Amtrak links Atlanta by rail to cities across the United States, including New Orleans and Washington D.C. A number of Interstate Highway Systems pass through Atlanta, ensuring direct road access to locations such as Florida and Texas. Once in Atlanta, you can choose from a variety of public transportation options to get around the city, including rapid-transit rail and bus.

 

Getting Into Atlanta

 

Air

 

Wherever you're travelling from, Atlanta is most easily reached by air travel. With the World's largest airport acting as the city's primary gateway, visitors can choose from a variety of airlines in order to access the city. Delta Airlines are by far the largest airline serving Atlanta International Airport, with hundreds of destinations across the United States and Internationally.

 

  • Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport: Serving nearly 90 million passenger a year, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is the World's largest Airport by passenger numbers. It is located seven miles (11 km) south of the central business district of Atlanta, it is the primary hub of AirTran Airways, Delta Airlines, and Delta Connection partner Atlantic Southeast Airlines. With international service to North America, South America, Central America, Europe, Asia and Africa, the airport is one of the United States' largest international gateways. The airport's main scheduled carriers include Delta Airlines (who operate the World's largest airline Hub at the airport), Continental Airlines, British Airways, AirTran, KLM, Lufthansa and United Airlines. Hartsfield–Jackson also has its own train station on the city's rapid transit system. The above-ground station is inside in the main building, between the north and south terminals on the west end. Rail

Road

 

A number of interstate highway systems pass through Atlanta, connecting the city with various cities across the United States. These include the I-75, I-85, I-285 and I-20.
